Giant Tetrahedron Challenge
|What:||Construction and Maths Activity|
|Why:||To provide context and fun to the Design and Maths Curriculum|
|When:||Any morning during the 2018-19 academic year|
|How long:||Morning long workshop|
|Who:||KS2 3, 4 and 5 students – maximum 60|
This workshop involves students in a demonstration of the properties of triangles and pyramids, before working in teams and taking on roles to construct a giant tetrahedron, using rods and bands. They then make a set of calculations based on their structures.
The mathematical elements are pitched to suit the age and ability of the children.
The activity is fast paced and fun, and encourages good teamwork, problem solving and working to time constraints. Students’ success is based on how well they have listened, and how carefully they follow the instructions given.
This workshop is offered as a one off enhancement activity, and will also be run as a countywide interschool challenge during the 2017-18 academic year. For further details please call 01634 204995 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
