Work Experience
We provide comprehensive, end-to-end work experience programmes for schools and employers, from initial planning with the schools, to post-placement review with students, schools and employers.
We manage placements for whole year groups, pre and post 16, specialised, course-related placements and SEND students’ opportunities.
Modern Work Experience requires students to undertake 10 days of work experience activities throughout their secondary careers. A range of shorter experiences are available.
We collaborate with The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) to embed national best practices across all our programmes. Utilising the equalex framework, we ensure that our work experience programmes are fully compliant, impactful, and aligned with Gatsby Benchmarks. All students use our Work Experience Log Book, which supports essential skills development.

Extended Placements in Industry
We arrange extended placements in the workplace, for students that schools have identified as needing some extra support and inspiration, outside the curriculum. One-day-a-week for six weeks, or longer, can really make a difference.

Schools have enjoyed the exceptional support of a wide range of employers. With them, we have developed many of our programmes and activities, such as the Excellence on Work Experience Award, for students who go the extra mile whilst in the workplace, and our Young Eco Engineers Project, where children make and race an electric car.
Our employers realise that engaging with students provides the opportunity to be involved in developing tomorrow’ talent bank, addressing skills gaps and inspiring a future-ready workforce; providing placements for young people encourages them to take up jobs in their sector. They also see the benefits of developing current employees through involvement in the workplace and through school visits, as well as supporting their company’s corporate social responsibility aims.
As well as work experience, businesses provide resources, sponsorship for school projects, and role models for students, especially in disadvantaged areas.
We are always seeking new employers to support young people’s essential skills development, and offer businesses support in developing risk assessments and good health and safety practice, across all sectors.
We also offer employers a comprehensive review of their Health and Safety policies and processes – contact Sam@mebp.org for details and prices.

Many of the schools we work with have been partners with us since the beginning. Working together, we review and develop our work experience programme, making sure it meets theirs and businesses requirements for all students’ careers development.
Schools work with businesses to bridge the gap between education and employment, providing students with real-world context, essential employability skills, and early career exposure. Partnerships enhance the curriculum with practical relevance, fostering professional skills like teamwork and communication, creating vital talent pipelines for local industries, and in so doing reducing future skills shortages.
We support ‘Modern Work Experience’ which refers to a change in how young people engage with the world of work. The government and the Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) are promoting a model of 10 days of work experience throughout students’ secondary years, moving away from two-week ‘block’ placements, aimed at providing a range of experiences, which will be transformative, diverse and relevant to each and every young person.
We link our service to the Skills Builder Universal Framework, which is the world’s leading tool for measuring and building young people’s essential skills. Here are just some of the ways we can support their essential skills development:
